Roof-Lift Extension and Internal Alterations
Our clients had recently purchased a new property but wanted to adapt the house to fit their requirements and needs. Inspire Design have worked with them to reach a successful conclusion, in which the details and journey is documented below.
Our clients purchased the above 2 bedroom bungalow but wished to adapt it to create a larger family home. Firstly without changing the external footprint we altered the internal layout on the ground floor to create a better layout and repositioned the stairs to accommodate some new dormers.
The plans were drawn up, prepared and submitted to the local authority who sadly refused the scheme due to the dormers not being in keeping with the area.
We therefore went back to the drawing board and looked at a fresh approach to enable us to deliver a workable design that we felt would satisfy the planning officers concerns and our clients were happy with the scheme.
The new plans was to give the bungalow a new roof lift and in turn create more internal space to allow for four large bedrooms, two of which incorporated en-suites and a large family bathroom to the first floor.
A new modern porch replaced the existing one and with the new down stairs layout, the clients were delighted with the new scheme.
The new plans were resubmitted to the council which also included some street scene visuals to assist with the planners decision making. The planning officer was able to visualise how this would fit in with the other existing properties on the street scene and was happy to approve the new scheme in which we receive a planning approval for our clients.
Inspire Design were able to give their clients an even better scheme then originally thought, a four-bedroomed house with the new layout downstairs giving them a larger, more practical space.
The overall look of the property has a mixture of materials but all work well together to give the property a modern feel.
We are so happy with this outcome and pleased we were able to provide a successful end to the journey.
